A Leave of Presence: Skill and Craft in the Temporary Stay

Clown Larvae at Circus School!

May 7th, 2014

I had the great good fortune this spring to be able to take a class in Clown Performance Styles at ASU from the astonishing Brian Foley. I’m still processing everything I learned, and I’m hoping I’ll get to follow him around like a baby duck take more classes from him in future. My classmates proved to be delightful, talented and creative young people and I expect to be saying “I knew them when” in very short order.

I was lucky to be able to offer my fellow clowns the chance to come try aerials, thanks to the generosity of Rachel Stegman at CSA.

Here is Alanna, fulfilling all her cirque dreams:

Phoenix, doing better than I did my first time up on a ball!

I always try to put people on the rope at least once in a class. Everyone was very brave and tried hard! Here’s Alanna again.

As always, anyone interested in taking an introductory lesson in static trapeze, corde lisse, or fabric, contact us at CSA (www.circusschoolofarizona.com).
